P90X Progress

Like many people my husband and I made a New Year’s resolution,  2011 will be our year to lose the weight! Over the years the pounds had snuck on; we both have desk jobs, we both gained some pregnancy weight (he was supportive and helped me with my midnight cravings…), we both kept some of the pregnancy weight on and we just weren’t as active as we once were.

We started the year by going back to the gym (and not just to take the kids to swim lessons!) and by eating better. We both lost about 10 lbs but then things slowed down and were able to keep the 10 lbs off but no more. As we saw less progress we slowed down too and went to the gym less and weren’t as diligent with our eating. Fast forward to July when my husband heard about P90X from a co-worker and decided to learn more.  We checked out www.beachbody.com, read the reviews and decided to make the commitment and give it a try.

We committed to working out 6 days a week (for us this means getting up at 5am to workout before the kids wake), following the meal plan guide, drinking more water, getting more sleep and cutting out the junk food (even diet soda). We know this isn’t easy which is why I decided to start this blog to help anyone else out who might be starting their P90X adventure.

I am hesitant to share our numbers because for each person their weight loss journey is unique and personal and part of me doesn’t want the world to know what I weighed for fear of judgment, but with that said I am putting it out there anyway in hopes that it will help someone else know that it is possible no matter how much or how little you have to lose.

While our lbs lost was great, our inches lost and muscles gained was an even better benefit. I can honestly say I have never been in better shape. We have gone on to complete a second round of P90x and I focused on maintenance so my weight has stayed the same but my body shape continues to change for the better.

Over all results, in a year we both lost close to 30 lbs and have kept it off for the last 6 months. We can’t imagine going back!
