Green Smoothie Recipes

No need to recreate the wheel and invent your own green smoothie recipe (unless you have the time), here is one of my favorites and some good ones I have found.  Tell me what you like!

My Green Smoothie

  • 1 orange
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen pineapple chunks
  • a handful or two of baby spinach
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1 cup ice

Layer in blender and process until smooth, pour into your favorite glass, add a straw and enjoy!

Want to make it a complete meal? Add 1 packet Strawberry Shakeology. DELICIOUS!

Ingredients

  • 1 apple
  • 1 pear
  • 1/2 tsp freshly grated ginger
  • 2 tbsp flax seeds
  • 6 large kale leaves (take out woody stems), or 2 handfuls of spinach
  • juice of 1 small lemon
  • 1 cup water

Directions

  1. Quarter apple and pear, remove stems and seeds and put in blender.
  2. Add remaining ingredients to blender and purée. Add more water if needed.

Refreshing Peach Green Smoothie

  • 1 oz Water
  • 1 Peach
  • 1 C Spinach
  • 1/2 C Ice

Coconut Peach Avocado Green Smoothie

  • 1/2 C Water
  • 1/2 Avocado
  • 1 Peach
  • 2 C Green Leaf Lettuce
  • 3 T Shredded Coconut
  • Top with Ice

I Love Fat Green Smoothie

  • 1/2 C Coconut Milk
  • 1 T Macadamia Butter
  • 1/2 Banana
  • 1 C Spinach
  • Top with Ice

Coconut Blueberry Avocado Green Smoothie

  • 1/2 C Coconut Milk
  • 1/4 C Water
  • 1/2 C Blueberries
  • 1/2 Avocado
  • 1 C Spinach
  • Top with Ice

Other options:

  •  Coconut milk, 1 T almond butter, 1 T ground flax, 1 VERY RIPE frozen banana and two big handfuls of spinach, ice

  • coconut milk, a single frozen banana, 1 T almond butter, two handfuls of spinach  and 1 T ground flaxseed

Tips:

  • Try almond milk, coconut milk, green tea, carrot juice or water
  • Frozen bananas and avocados (not frozen) create a smooth consistency
  • apples, pears, oranges and pineapples add a lot of liquid so balance that with whatever other liquids you add for consistency
  • When using frozen berries reduce the amount of ice you add in
  • Layer your ingredients with heavier and frozen items on the bottom
  • When using leafy greens remove any tough stems
